WHAT IS REIKI?
REIKI is a Japanese word that means “Universal Life Force Energy.”
“Everyone is born with Reiki energy, because it is the energy of life itself.”
The practice of Reiki as a healing art has its roots in Japan. Mikao Usui (1865-1926) is generally credited with having invented this particular system.
Usui was a martial artist and Tendai Buddhist practitioner who combined elements of Taoism, Buddhism and Shintoism to create the unique blend we know in the West as Reiki. He opened a clinic in Tokyo and subsequently taught several students. Among these was Chujiro Hayashi, a retired Japanese naval officer and surgeon.
In 1936 a Japanese-American woman named Haymo Takata came to Dr. Hayashi’s clinic suffering from a severe respiratory illness. After the Reiki treatments she received there healed her completely, Mrs. Takata remained in Japan for two years studying Dr. Hayashi’s healing method.
After returning to her home in Hawaii, she initiated twenty-two Americans into the Reiki system. Among these were her grand-daughter Phyllis Lee Furumoto, Barbara Weber Ray and John Harvey Gray.
From this initial root, the art of Reiki has proliferated into many different styles and subgroups. My Reiki lineages descends directly from Mrs. Takata herself.
Reiki is generally taught in three levels:
Level One – bestows the ability to transmit Reiki to people, animals and objects which are physically present.
Level Two – bestows the ability to transmit Reiki to people, animals and objects at a distance, as well as backwards and forwards in time.
Level Three – bestows the ability to transmit Reiki to others.
I offer Reiki instruction at all three levels.
Level One $175
Level Two $250
Level Three - $500
Reiki is not actually a “technique” as such. It is more like a way of life. Once you acquire the ability to offer Reiki, you step will into a new paradigm.
